The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in a statement published today (March 2), described a series of ongoing initiatives aimed at improving the law and order throughout the country.

These include higher control positions throughout the country and workshops for the police, administration, judiciary and prosecutors to strengthen their responsibility compliance skills.

The statement, signed by the Public Relations officer Faisal Hasan, said that the implementation of these initiatives is being closely monitored.

According to the statement, the key initiatives taken by the Ministry are as follows:

  1. A special operation has been launched throughout the country since February 8 to arrest identified criminals, terrorists and individuals involved in drug trafficking and smuggling.
  2. The workshops on the “application of the law with emphasis on human rights and the environment in the changed situation of the country” have been held throughout the country with the participation of the police, the administration, the judiciary and the prosecutors to promote the moral of the agencies of application of the law and improve their ability to fulfill their responsibilities.
  3. The heads of several police units, the police officers of the police, the brigade chiefs deployed in the army and other responsible officers are informing the media about the decisions made about each incident.
  4. Search publications and check publications have increased in key locations in the capital, and patrols have intensified in areas prone to crimes. The joint forces that include the army, several police units and the Bangladesh border guard (BGB) are carrying out specific operations.
  5. In addition to the regular patrols on the main roads of the capital, additional patrols have been deployed by the Navy and the Coast Guard.
  6. Combined operations are being carried out to arrest criminals, including raptors, thieves, adolescent gangs and others in high crime areas.
  7. Law application agencies have been ordered to take quick measures updating the list of neighborhood -based criminals.
  8. The patrols have increased in areas that surround Dhaka, particularly in Tongi, Bosila, Kereniganj and Munshiganj.
  9. Measures have been taken to acquire motorcycles for the members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), BGB, Ansar and the Bangladesh Coast Guard to allow a quick response in narrow alleys.
  10. Measures to counteract erroneous information and propaganda have been entered through the dissemination of precise information.
  11. The origin advisor, the special assistant of the main advisor, the Secretary of the Interior, the Police Inspector (PGI), the DMP Commissioner and the senior officials responsible for enforcing the law are carrying out surprise inspections of police stations, control posts and patrol activities in the morning and afternoon at night.
  12. The origin advisor has held meetings with officials responsible for enforcing the law in all administrative divisions and has issued the necessary directives.
  13. Officials of the Interior Ministry have been assigned to regularly monitor night patrols and verify postal activities in Dhaka to improve the effectiveness of the application of the law.
  14. Case monitoring committees have been formed at the level of the district and metropolitan to verify cases and ensure that real criminals are identified, avoiding the unfair prosecution of innocent people.
  15. The cases involving the families of the martyrs of the July Revolution are being closely monitored to ensure that true perpetrators are taken before justice.
  16. All incidents related to the law and order are being reviewed by priority by the Ministry of Interior, with the necessary measures taken accordingly.
