Kiwi Scott Dixon has overcome radio problems to finish second place behind his chip teammate Racing Alex Palou to start the new Indycar season at St Petersburg, Florida.

Dixon did not have radio communications with his team for the last 90 laps of the 100 laps race.

The Kiwi ended strong, surpassing Josef Newgarden in the last round to win Chipsei its first 1-2 since 2023.

“We were a little blindly flying,” Dixon said about his radio problems.

“Ultimately, I think they were trying to call me because in that last round we had before facing each other, there was a lot of traffic, and we lost two or three seconds. That’s where the 10 cars (Palou) caught us. “
