Agricultural flu detected in tri-state

Ripley County, Ind. (WKRC) – The Indiana Fishing and Wildlife Division has reported that avian flu is affecting wild birds in Ripley County.

The avian flu has also been detected in 30 counties throughout the state. The virus is commonly found in wild birds, particularly aquatic birds, coasts and raptors.

The centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) have declared that the Public health risk for the virus is still low.

“Public members should avoid contact with sick water birds and another diseased wildlife whenever possible. However, if it is necessary to eliminate a corpse, discard it safely using a mask and disposable gloves to bag double housing and place them in a garbage container.
