Man arrested after officer-involved shooting in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Ardmore Police have released new details about a officer involved shooting at a gas station Thursday afternoon.

According to the department, officers stopped a vehicle with a passenger, Joshua Estrada, who had an outstanding warrant.

Police said Estrada gave them a fake ID and when officers realized it, they asked him to get out of the vehicle.

Estrada allegedly made a comment to an officer that implied he would hurt them to avoid arrest, and when officers attempted to arrest him, police said he made an open motion toward the officers.

That’s when the officers fired several bullets at him.

He was taken to Outstanding Community Hospital in Ardmore, where he was treated and released shortly after.

The driver of the vehicle and the officers were not injured and the officers were placed on routine administrative leave.

Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation later arrested Estrada for terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance and the outstanding warrant.
