Tribute at Bristol City stadium to Liam Manning’s son

James Ewing, a member of Section 82, said the display covered the Dolman and South stands of the Ashton Gate stadium.

Fans held up red or white sheets after a minute of applause for Theo.

“(It’s) the most important thing we’ve tried to accomplish together,” Ewing said.

“Certainly the most worthy cause, I guess you could say.”

Interim boss Chris Hogg said fans did a “tremendous job” showing their support.

“There’s definitely been that emotion in the air and rightly so in supporting the family,” he said.

“It’s a unique situation when something so close to your heart and someone who is so close to your heart is going through what they’re going through.”

Manning described the ordeal as the most difficult time of his and his family’s lives.

In a letter to fans, he described how “moving” it was to see the memorials at games since his son’s death.

“I’m very proud that they could share Theo’s name,” he said.

The coach said goodbye thanking the fans “from the bottom of my heart.”
