Man arrested after stabbing incident at Altoona home following property dispute

A man was taken into custody after police say he stabbed another man in the leg and assaulted a woman at a home in the 1500 block of 3rd Street in Altoona on Friday night.

According to the Altoona Police Department in a Facebook post, officers were sent to the home shortly after 6:15 p.m. for reports of a stabbing incident.

Police said officers located a male victim with a stab wound to the leg at the intersection of 3rd Street and Walnut Avenue, who was transported to UPMC Altoona for treatment.

Officers said they made contact with a female victim at the residence who told them that a man, identified as Christopher Thomas, came to the home to speak with her about a property exchange shortly before the 911 call.

According to police, after a brief conversation at the front door, Thomas entered the residence and began punching the victim in the face several times.

The Altoona Police Department stated that Thomas then walked up to the male victim, who was sitting in a chair in another room, and began punching him several times in the face before pulling out a knife and stabbing him in the leg before fleeing. the residence.

Police said in the post that Thomas was later discovered to be staying at a halfway house in the Coalport area of ​​Clearfield County and was taken into custody early Saturday morning.

According to police, the Blair County Sheriff’s Department, Logan Township Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police also assisted in the investigation.

Thomas faces several charges, led by felony aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime.

He is incarcerated at the Blair County Jail on $150,000 bail.
