An 83-year-old man arrested for alleged attempts to request sexual favors from children

PLATTSBURG, Mo. (KCTV) – An 83-year-old Missouri man is behind bars after child pornography was found on his phone and law enforcement officers discovered he had attempted to solicit sexual favors from children.

Clinton County, Missouri, Circuit Court Records have revealed that on Friday, October 25, Terryl L. Anderson, 83, of Cameron, was charged with possession of child pornography and enticement of a child.

He Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said that around 9 a.m. on Oct. 14, an individual arrived to report finding images of naked children on Anderson’s phone, as well as messages with a 6-year-old boy and his 16-year-old caregiver.

Investigators said a recording of the messages showed Anderson attempting to arrange a sexual interaction with a boy he believed was 6 years old. A search warrant was then executed at Anderson’s home during which his laptop, phone and other electronic devices were confiscated.

As law enforcement officers searched Anderson’s home, he admitted to an officer that he had been messaging several underage girls and even discussed possible visits with them. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Investigators noted that several messages were found on Anderson’s phone that circumvented attempts to meet children for sexual interactions. The extraction of your other electronic data is still ongoing.

As of Saturday, Anderson remains behind bars on $75,000 bail. An arraignment is set for Monday, October 28 at 9 am. No further information has been released.
