AFCON 2025: Libya files an appeal against CAF’s decision to award the match to the Super Eagles

The Libyan Football Federation, LFF, has decided to appeal the decision of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, to award Nigeria three goals and three goals in their failed 2025 African Cup of Nations qualification match.

According to a Libyan media, alwasat.ly, they consider the verdict to be unfair.

The LFF has now hired Tunisian lawyer Ali Abbas to defend its position in the case.

The matchday four match was scheduled to be played in Benina on October 15, but was canceled after the Nigerian delegation had its flight diverted.

Super Eagles players and officials were held hostage in an abandoned airport for at least 17 hours.

The LFF has also been ordered to pay a fine of $50,000, payment of which must be made within 60 days following notification of this decision.
