Major Bristol Airport upgrade and £4.3m coin hoard

The hoard was purchased for £4.3 million by The South West Heritage Trust.

The sale of a hoard of coins and the deflation of a large lunar facility have made headlines in the West this week, along with the collapse of a house in Highworth.

Found by seven metal detectorists in Chew Valley in 2019, The South West Heritage Trust bought the hoard of 2,584 silver pennies from the time of the Norman Conquest for £4.3 million. as reported by the Chew Valley Gazette.

The coins, which are the most valuable hoard ever discovered, will go on display at the British Museum from November 26, before touring museums across the UK and finally arriving at their permanent home at the Somerset Museum in Taunton.

Bristol Airport launches £400m upgrade

Bristol Airport is embarking on a more than £400m investment program to improve customer experience. according to Bristol Live.

“More space will be added to the terminal” and some “key changes” are being made to the way customers arrive and depart the airport.

“For those of you who have been traveling recently, you may have noticed the extensive development works taking place in front of the terminal building.

“This is the location of our new flagship project, which includes a new expanded public transport zone, a private vehicle drop-off and drop-off section and a new multi-storey car park,” said Dave Lees, chief executive.

Tributes were left at Clevedon Pier following the death of One Direction star Liam Payne, 31, who died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
