‘What is happening in the world?’ Michelle Obama goes on campaign for the first time with a call to men for the right to abortion

Former first lady Michelle Obama is making a final argument for Vice President Harris this election season with a call to defend abortion rights, specifically for men. Mrs. Obama says men (who overwhelmingly support President Trump, just as women overwhelmingly support Mrs. Harris) need to “get serious” about a woman’s right to choose.

Speaking to supporters of Ms. Harris at a rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday night, the former first lady said men have a vested interest in protecting abortion rights because they will be the ones “praying” in their wives’ homes, their girlfriends, and their sisters’ bedsides if there is a complication as a result of their pregnancies or other reproductive problems.

“Your girlfriend could be in legal jeopardy if she needs a pill from out of state or abroad, or if she has to travel across state lines because the local clinic closed. Your wife or mother could be the ones most at risk of dying from undiagnosed cervical cancer because they don’t have access to regular gynecological care. “Your daughter could be the one who is too terrified to call the doctor if she bleeds during an unexpected pregnancy,” Obama said.

The former first lady told the men in the room that it will be their children who will not be able to attend college, will not be able to start a career and will not be able to leave the house if they are forced to become young parents. These young people will be the ones who will “hold flowers at the funeral” if the mother of their children dies from pregnancy complications.

“You may be the one who has to raise your children alone,” Obama told the young men.

The former first lady said she feels “frustrated” and “angry” that large sections of this country, particularly men, support Trump by nine points. marginAccording to a new CBS poll, they are not “ready” to back Ms. Harris.

“I have to wonder: Why the hell is this race so close?” Mrs. Obama said in Michigan. “I stayed awake at night wondering, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And it is clear to me whether Kamala is ready for this moment, because in every aspect she has shown that she is ready. The real question is: as a county, are we prepared for this moment?

Mrs. Obama hinted that the vice president is being pushed for higher office. standard because of her gender and race, saying America expects nothing from Trump and demanding that Ms. Harris be perfect at all times.

“I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us choose to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn. I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little angry that we’re indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental deterioration, his history as a convicted felon, a known slumlord, a predator found responsible for sexual abuse… all this while we separate the Kamala answers from interviews she doesn’t even have the courage to do,” Mrs. Obama told the Michigan crowd.
