Tyrique Stevenson apologizes for his behavior at the Ave Maria

Tyrique Stevenson apologized to Bears fans for taunting Commanders fans at the start of the final play, before tipping Washington’s game-winning Hail Mary pass to receiver Noah Brown.

The play capped what was largely a bad day for the Bears in their 18-15 loss, and Stevenson’s thoughtless behavior, coupled with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he received early in the game, made the apology look like a little insufficient.

He’ll probably owe them some interceptions at some point in the future.

The other disappointment for the Bears was the long list of injuries that came out of the game.

Teven Jenkins and Braxton Jones suffered knee injuries and Bill Murray had a pectoral injury, while Montez Sweat suffered a shin injury.

“With all the offensive linemen we had coming in and out of there, I thought the guys struggled there,” coach Matt Eberflus said. “The stock was firmer in the second half, it was good.”

Eberflus said he had no idea how serious the injuries were. The Bears ended up with Kiran Amegadjie playing left tackle for Jones. Backup center Doug Kramer had to play guard due to injuries to Jenkins and Murray.

The Bears have tackle Larry Borom and guard Ryan Bates, who could come off injured reserve for the next game.

Sweat was not on the field during the final game running in the Hail Mary after suffering his injury.
