Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool: fans’ views

We asked him for his opinion after Sunday’s Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Here are some of their comments:

arsenal fans

Bruno: I think we did well considering how much was at stake, in terms of keeping up with Manchester City and not having a fully fit team. Two seasons ago we would have lost and had a poor record against the top six teams. Mikel Arteta has built a solid and stable platform that allows us to compete against good teams like Liverpool.

Andy: I was impressed to see that the absence of key players did not stop Arsenal from moving forward. We played good football and it was a great game to watch. Referee Anthony Taylor did well and kept the pace going, which seems unusual after the last few weeks. The local crowd was excellent.

Jorge: Arsenal fought well with a depleted team. Martinelli was responsible for the second goal and had to be substituted earlier. He seems afraid to go up against big defenders like Ibrahima Konate and is generally light as a feather.

John: If you want to win the Premier League and you are 2-1 at home against a very good Liverpool team, find a way to win the game! Once again Arsenal seemed to run out of ideas! Achilles heel.

Liverpool fans

Thomas: Liverpool should be very happy with a point away from home against a tough opponent. There are many positives to take advantage of and many of the substitutions have an impact. Momentum is a useful tool in a season and this game will only help the confidence continue to grow.

Alison: We were lucky to get a draw. Gabriel’s departure was a blessing for us. Our defenders need to look at themselves. Virgil van Dijk is not exempt from criticism: he must stop walking around as if he were on vacation. Ibrahima Konate is our rock in defense.

Barry: I think it’s a missed opportunity but overall a point away from Arsenal could be pivotal in our season. Konate was excellent at the back and we showed resistance until the end. I think Mikel Arteta will be happier than Arne Slot on this occasion, which says a lot about our lost chances, but it is one more step towards the title.

Mike: Overall, I’m disappointed because we had too many out of shape players, we never had control of the match and we didn’t show any urgency to win after the draw. This despite all of Arsenal’s injury problems! In short, we got our way.
