3-year-old boy injured after shooting in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) – A 3-year-old girl received temporary treatment after she injured her foot during a shooting in Orangeburg.

According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), a unit responded to Marlboro Street on Tuesday regarding multiple reports of shots fired in the area.

An incident report stated that the girl’s father said he and his two children were watching television and that the mother was asleep in the bedroom when the shooting started.

Deputies said the 3-year-old boy received temporary treatment for a gunshot wound from Orangeburg County EMS and was taken to MUSC Orangeburg for further evaluation.

The father told officers that once the shooting stopped, he immediately ran outside to identify the shooter, but couldn’t see anything. He also said he had no altercations with anyone and was not aware of anyone seeking to cause any harm to him or his family.

The report stated that officers found several shell casings, from assault rifles to handguns, scattered throughout the home, leading to the residence and the road.

Deputies said the home suffered extensive damage to both the exterior and interior, estimated at approximately $5,000.

The case was referred to the Orangeburg County Criminal Investigation Division.
