NEW DELHI: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) filed a fresh complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner on Friday, alleging that the Odisha governor Rahubar Das is actively participating in the ongoing election campaign in Jharkhand, which the party claims is a violation of the Model code of conduct.

The letter, addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, said: “In continuation of my letter of October 23 (Ref 76/2024), this is to inform you again that Raghubar Das, Governor of Odisha, continues to campaign for his daughter-in-law, Purnima Dascontesting from 48, Jamshedpur East, on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.”
The Congress accuses Das of attending booth committee meetings and distributing materials in Jamshedpur East, where her daughter-in-law is contesting as president. BJP candidate.
“We also inform you that as per the information received, Odisha Governor Raghubar Das was found participating in the election committee meetings in Jamshedpur East Constituency and distributing various materials among the public,” the complaint reads.

AICC complaint to the CEC

The AICC expressed concern that the governor’s actions blur the line between his constitutional role and his active participation in partisan politics. The party urged Electoral Commission of India (ECI) to intervene, highlighting that “the above-mentioned act of the Governor of Odisha raises a major concern which I have highlighted through several press conferences, hence there is an urgent need for the Election Commission of the India”.
