Woman accused of stealing from side to side

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Clay County woman is facing charges after an incident allegedly involving the theft of a side-by-side vehicle.

Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the incident on Wednesday.

Police made contact with someone at a home at 345 Stable Hollow Road.

According to an arrest citation, Brandy Burns told police she had not seen or knew anything about the theft of an all-terrain vehicle.

Police then spoke with a next-door neighbor, and the neighbor told them he possibly knew where the stolen side-by-side was located.

The neighbor gave police the location of a nearby trail, which was directly behind the house.

Police were able to confirm through the side-by-side vehicle identification number (VIN) that it was stolen from Hazard.

Burns reportedly told police he parked it where he found it and took it from a friend.

Burns was charged with receiving stolen property: $10,000 or more.

She was taken to the Clay County Detention Center.
