Camden County deputy shoots gunman during morning call

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released more information about a Officer-involved shooting Friday in Camdenton.

A news release from the patrol states that Camdenton Police officers and Camden County deputies responded to 95 Third Street at 2:30 a.m.

Someone had called saying there was a body in the house.

When they arrived at the scene, they said a man, Matthew D. MacDonald, 28, of Camdenton, came out of the home with a rifle in his hand.

Authorities said MacDonald would not lower the rifle when told to do so.

A Camden County deputy fired his service rifle, striking MacDonald.

MacDonald was detained and later taken to a hospital for treatment.

No one else was injured and no body was found at the scene, as initially reported.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Drug and Crime Enforcement Division will continue to investigate the shooting and will forward its findings to the Camden County Prosecutor for review.
