Pelham, NH police identify alleged hit-and-run driver who left woman seriously injured

PELHAM, NH — Police announced they have identified the driver involved in a Tuesday morning hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“Members of the Pelham Police Department have worked very hard over the past two days to follow up on every tip the public has provided,” police said in a statement issued Friday. “With the cooperation of many people, we have located the van in question and identified the driver.”

The victim, a 53-year-old Pelham woman, remains hospitalized at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington.

While the identity of the driver was not released and no charges were announced Friday, police said the case remains “a top priority” and is being actively investigated. Police also thanked everyone who provided advice, adding that without this help, “the case would not progress as quickly as it has.”

First responders were called to a car accident on Mammoth Road near George M. Muldoon Park shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found the victim sitting on the northbound shoulder of Mammoth Road with “significant injuries,” police said.

The vehicle involved had left the scene before first responders arrived.

When the public was initially asked for help in locating the driver, police said they did not have a description of the vehicle, but noted that it should have damage to the front passenger side mirror or front passenger corner.

On Friday, police urged anyone with additional firsthand information about the incident to contact Cpl. James Locke at 603-635-2411 or [email protected].
