A man wearing a Make America Great Again hat hit an election worker with his fists in San Antonio, according to a sheriff’s report.

Early voting began in Texas on Monday.

Police say that on Thursday, 63-year-old Jesse Lutzenberger walked into a polling station wearing a MAGA hat in support of the former president. donald trump. A 69-year-old poll worker asked him to remove his hat because, under Texas law, political messages at polling places are considered illegal campaigning. The worker asked Lutzenberg to remove his hat and the voter complied. However, Lutzenberger put his hat back on, the worker approached him and began to escort him.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Lutzenberger was captured on surveillance camera “throwing an arm toward the victim.”

“The victim seemed to move away from the suspect,” Salazar saying. “At that point, the suspect turned and delivered several punches directly to the victim’s face.”

The poll worker’s injuries were not life-threatening and he was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Lutzenberger was arrested at his home and released on $30,000 bail on Friday.

Bexar County Police have responded to multiple calls about people dressed in political clothing supporting various candidates. Texas law stipulates that political clothing is prohibited within 100 feet of polling stations.

According to a Bexar County elections official, more than 200,000 people have voted so far.
