The chase in a stolen vehicle through the orchard leads to the arrest of a man

A man has been arrested for robbery in Los Baños after leading police on a chase, the Los Baños Police Department says.

According to LBPD, around 8:40 p.m. Thursday, officers received a report of a stolen vehicle and a burglary at a shed in the 300 block of I Street.

Shortly after, officers received a report of shots fired in the area of ​​South 11th Street and Pioneer.

An officer saw a suspicious pickup truck driving on the shoulder of Pioneer Road.

Police say the truck was thrown, causing the noise to reportedly come from gunshots.

When the officer attempted to stop the truck, the driver continued driving away toward an orchard at high speed.

Then, the truck crashed into a tree in the orchard and the driver got out and continued fleeing.

The officer continued to chase the man until he finally caught him.

The man was identified as Abel Salinas Jr., 42, of Los Baños.

Police determined the van was the stolen vehicle officers had previously reported.

Salinas was booked into the Police Department for vehicle theft, theft and possession of stolen property.
