Raid at Washington home leads to arrest in shooting that happened 2 weeks ago

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina man is behind bars after deputies say a raid on a Washington home linked him to a shooting that occurred more than two weeks ago.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office said they concluded their investigation into the Oct. 9 shooting on Jimmy Lane in Washington today after they raided a home on Marva Drive and arrested Zyere Godley.

The 19-year-old Washington man was charged with discharging a weapon into occupied property, felony conspiracy and criminal damage to personal property.

Deputies say Godley was denied bail due to the charges and is in the Pitt County Jail.

However, Godley was not the only man arrested after the raid. Deputies say they arrested Dominic Maurizzio, 23, of the searched home on charges of intent to sell/deliver marijuana.

Deputies say Maurizzio was initially denied bond due to pending charges from an unrelated shooting in 2022 in Wake County. However, this morning he was granted bail of $5,000. Deputies say he remains in the Pitt County Jail because he has not posted bail.

According to agents, their raid found several weapons, ammunition, many gun parts and 35.3 grams of marijuana.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says more charges are expected.
