Improved transportation services and stadium access for fans.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – The 83rd annual Magic City Classic presented by McDonald’s begins Saturday and organizers are taking extra steps to streamline entry and exit at Legion Field. CEO Perren King outlined several improvements for fans, including a significant increase in shuttle services and improvements to stadium access points.

Approximately 75 buses, including ADA accessible vehicles, will transport fans to and from the stadium, departing from Birmingham Crossplex, Park Place and downtown Birmingham. Travel times are expected to range between 15 and 20 minutes.

Shuttles from the Crossplex will begin at 9:30 a.m., while shuttles from Park Place and downtown will begin at 11:30 a.m., and all three will operate up to two hours after the conclusion of the game. The $5 transportation fee applies to adults, but children under six years old can ride for free.

King noted that ticket holders should check the gate on their ticket, and that staff are working closely with Regions Bank to simplify and organize entry.

In his words, “So we’re doing some more directional things to say, hey, look, enter through gate five if you have this level of pass, if you have this ticket, enter through gate three. What they are also doing is helping with the greeters outside, reminding people of the clear bag policies, reminding them to make sure they have the correct size tote bags, reminding them that there are other doors they can enter through. “We just want it to be a pleasant experience and not have everyone at two o’clock trying to get in at the same time.”

Ferries are expected to run continuously for approximately 12 hours on game day. Gates to Legion Field will open at noon and kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
