Letcher Central on two-game winning streak after beating Whitley County

LETCHER CENTRAL, Ky. (WYMT) – The Letcher Central Cougars and Whitley County Colonels entered Week 10 with a 4-4 record on the season. A back-and-forth battle ensued at Letcher Central High School Friday night to decide which team would improve to a winning record.

The Cougars struck first when Quinton Williams made a one-handed catch and headed to the end zone, putting Letcher Central ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.

Whitley County’s Shane Parker responded with a 69-yard run to the house, tying the game at seven. However, Letcher Central held a 14-7 lead heading into the second quarter.

Parker would quickly tie the game at 14 in the second quarter with a run up the middle for a touchdown.

In the end, Letcher Central won 35-28 and moved to 5-4 on the season. Whitley County falls to 4-5.
