The death of Madonna’s younger brother, Christopher Ciccone, has left a void in the singer’s heart. Days after his death from cancer, the 66-year-old shared a tribute remembering the time they had spent together. Most recently, Madonna visited her brother’s grave in Michigan, less than a month after his death.

On October 25, Madonna posted a series of photos to her Instagram Stories from her visit to Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan, where her brother was buried. Accompanied by her daughter, Lourdes León, the singer shared an image of Christopher’s green marble tombstone, with the legend “Coming home…”. Another photo showed several red roses placed at her late brother’s resting place.

In the next image, Madonna is seen kneeling in front of another grave, which appears to be that of her mother, Madonna Fortin Ciccone, who died when the singer was just five years old. Madonna’s daughter Lourdes also posed next to her grandmother’s tombstone.

In another clip from Madonna’s Instagram Stories, Levon Henry is seen playing Duke Ellington’s Single Petal of a Rose on a saxophone. Additionally, while in Michigan, Madonna also visited her grandmother’s house. She recalled some old memories and shared a photo of herself taken outside the house with the caption: “When I was little, I thought my Nanoos house was a mansion!”

Madonna shared an emotional clip featuring her and her brother Christopher. In the black and white video, the singer kneels at her mother’s grave and says, “I wonder what it looks like now, just a pile of dust.” Her brother is seen looking at her lovingly. She captioned the video: “Life is a circle.”

Just two days after her brother’s death, Madonna wrote a long note, noting that he was the “closest human” in her life. Sharing a series of photos with her brother, Madonna wrote that it was difficult to explain her bond with Christopher, but she knew it was based on understanding. The 66-year-old revealed how she “danced” through every difficult phase of her life with her younger brother.

On the same note, Madonna shared that she didn’t speak to Christopher for a brief period after he published her controversial memoir, Life with My Sister Madonna, in 2008. But they reconnected once he became ill. Christopher died on October 4 after a long battle with cancer.
