Pat McAfee Energizes Hoosier Crowd at College GameDay – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – For the first time in program history, College GameDay made the trip to Bloomington on a Saturday and Hoosier fans were ready.

The students were lining up as soon as 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The doors didn’t open until 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Indiana fans had a massive crowd around the GameDay set (Click here for a complete gallery).

Former Colts punter and current College GameDay analyst Pat McAfee had a lot of things to say about the state of Indiana and Indiana football.

“This is a football state here in Indiana,” McAfee said. “They have welcomed me as if I were their own and I am very lucky.”

“The pregame show of all pregame shows has come to the university that represents the great state of Indiana.”

“What you’re about to see is Hoosiers from one side of the world to the other, all incredibly proud to have gone to school in the great state of Indiana.”

“I love this state. “I’m incredibly proud that we’re going to show it to the world and they’re just getting started with Cig (Curt) Cignetti lighting up the Cig (Big) Ten from now until forever.”

Lee Corso Day

Indiana also honored its former coach, Lee Corso. Corso is an icon on College GameDay and returned to Bloomington, where he coached from 1973-1982.

Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson dedicated today like Lee Corso Day in Bloomington.

The 1979 Holiday Bowl champion Indiana Hoosier team also returned to Indiana, a team Corso coached. That team was the first team to win a bowl game in Indiana.

“I want to thank you very much for coming and being here, and thank you mayor. “I really appreciate it,” Corso said.

Kyle Schwarber as guest coach

Kyle Schwarber was the guest coach for Saturday’s show. Schwarber played baseball at Indiana and helped lead the Hoosiers to the College World Series in 2013.

He came out with an IU baseball and an Indiana jersey, and picked the Hoosiers to beat Washington.
