Addison is coming off a rookie season in which he had 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. The first-round pick out of USC seemed like a perfect fit in Minnesota’s offense alongside All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson, but he hasn’t exactly gotten his opportunities this year.

Jefferson has had another sensational season, catching 41 passes for 646 yards and five touchdowns. He’s been the focal point of Minnesota’s offense alongside running back Aaron Jones, and it’s worked so far as the Vikings are 5-2. However, they lost their last two games to the Detroit Lions and now the Rams.

As for Addison, it’s unclear if he’s asking for a trade or just a bigger role in the offense. Either way, it would behoove the Vikings to use their second-year wide receiver more. Using him more could also open up the field for Jefferson.

Jefferson talked about the need to open up the offense more before Thursday night’s loss.

“I’m definitely sick of having these 80- or 90-yard games,” Jefferson said before Thursday night’s loss, according to David Campbell from the Associated Press. “I definitely have to get over that 100-yard hurdle. That’s definitely my plan.”

Jefferson continued: “If you watch it on tape, the explosive plays are all over the field, not just me. They’re all over the field, and we have to be dialed in, all 11 of us, to execute those plays.” and give (Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold) a little more time.”

The Vikings’ next game is next Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. After this Thursday night matchup, the team will have plenty of time to prepare. This will also be the team’s last game before the NFL deadline for changes, which is two days later, Tuesday, November 5.
