Man arrested for going 118 MPH on I-84 in Willington

WILLINGTON, CT (WFSB) – A man was arrested for going 118 MPH on I-84 in Willington Saturday morning.

State Police say that around 7:21 a.m., a trooper was patrolling I-84 East near Exit 69 in Tolland when a blue Hyundai Elantra with New York plates passed them.

The officer began accelerating to try to catch the operator, identified as Aaron Terron, 33, of Brooklyn, New York. Using a speedometer, he was found to be traveling in the range of 113-118 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone.

The police officer then turned on his lights and Terron pulled over to the right shoulder, where he was detained.

When asked why he was traveling so fast, he said he was traveling to Salem, Massachusetts, for the Halloween festivities.

Terron is charged with reckless driving. He was later released on $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 13.
