Arsenal vs Liverpool: Premier League title rivals meet in crucial match on Sunday

With injuries to key players and a Liverpool side in good form, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes Arsenal come into this game as the underdogs, but believes it is a position that could suit them.

“Should Mikel Arteta be worried? I don’t think so,” he said on the Planet Premier League podcast.

“I think he understands the importance of the beginning of the season, but he understands even more the importance of how to finish it.

“The disappointment after losing against Bournemouth will be great, but I always like really good teams, players and coaches after a defeat.

“The fact that they face a test against Liverpool and, strangely, at home they feel possibly a bit of an underdog, I think that suits who they want to be at the moment.

“The public will be willing, the players too and if they manage to win it will be the boost that maybe they didn’t think they needed at this moment, but the boost that will come and the faith will be there 100%.”

Liverpool have lost just once this season (a 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest) and have won every other game.

Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter believes the stability Arne Slot has provided is key to their excellent form.

“What it has done is make him very stable in Liverpool,” Potter said.

“The style of play has changed little by little; now they build and press with a little more patience. It will be interesting to see how they maintain it.”

As for Sunday’s game, Potter added: “I think it will be a draw.”
