Will Jayden Daniels play this week? Latest injury update on Commanders QB

He Washington Commanders have a big question mark ahead of their Week 8 game against the chicago bearsas star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is unsure of playing due to a rib injury.

Daniels suffered the injury in the first quarter during the Week 7 game against the carolina pantherswhich forced his early departure from the game. It quickly became apparent that he did not suffer a serious injury, but the rib problem left his status up in the air.

Daniels did not record any participation in practice on Wednesday or Thursday before being able to return to the practice field on Friday for a limited practice, leading him to be given the questionable label.

The second overall pick also participated in the team’s practice on Saturday. Here’s the latest update on Daniels’ status for Week 8.

Jayden Daniels Injury Update

According ESPN’s Adam Schefter“All signs” point to Daniels playing Sunday against the Bears. The Commanders will see how the quarterback feels during pregame warmups before making a final decision.

“He’s a tough guy,” a team official told Schefter, before adding that Daniels “would want to play if his right leg was missing.”

While Daniels’ toughness is obviously admirable, commanders should not utilize him at less than 100%. After all, he’s too important to the future of the franchise to risk further injuries if he’s not fully healthy. At 5-2, the Commanders can afford to give him a game to do well.

If Daniels doesn’t end up playing, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota will take the reins of the offense once again. Mariota played well in relief of Daniels last week, completing 18 of 23 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 11 carries for 34 yards in a 40-7 victory.

Jayden Daniels Fantasy Football Tips

If he plays, Daniels will face a tough Bears defense, giving up the second fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. However, the rookie has been one of the top fantasy football options at his position this season and remains a must-have starting player every time he takes the field.

The Bears and Commanders will start at 4:25 pm ET, which means we won’t have official information on Daniels’ status until around 2:55 pm ET, when the inactives come out.

Make sure you have an emergency option like Mariota available in case the rookie signal-caller is eventually declared inactive.
