A metal structural beam from the ride is said to have fallen onto the track before the roller coaster came to an emergency stop and shut down.

Regal Smith, 27, who was at the park with his son, said people started “screaming” and “running away” from the ride.

They said two people, who appeared to be a mother and son, were trapped on the ride before a rescue team could get them off.

royal, of leicesterLeicestershire, said: “The ride was visibly shaking as the cars spun around.

“I was next in line for the attraction, I heard a bang, one of the main beams of the attraction came loose and blocked the track.

“Then a loud bang was heard as the metal beam broke off and hit the metal track.

“Everyone started screaming and running away from the ride, including the people in line.

“A climber went up to look at the damage and a rescue team also came.

“The piece has come off, you can see it clearly. It seems that this is a case where the bolt has come out.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Safari Park said: “We can confirm that on Friday 25 October at 3.25pm, a support beam partially dislodged on our Monkey Mayhem attraction.

I was able to try Scotland’s first alpine coaster, it’s the largest roller coaster in the country.

“Our tour operator made an emergency stop and two guests were safely evacuated in less than 30 minutes, in accordance with our procedures.

“No injuries were reported and first aid was offered, but it was not necessary.

“We have also kept in touch with those involved.

“The safety of our guests remains of utmost importance and as a precaution, the Monkey Mayhem attraction was closed while checks were carried out.

“We plan to reopen the attraction as soon as possible.”

The two people were safely removed within 30 minutes.

The park also denied that people were running and screaming from the attraction, adding that the situation was calm and well managed.

Earlier this month, Disney released details of its first marine roller coaster on your cruise.

Passengers will be able to try out the new coaster when the cruise ship sets sail for the first time in December 2025.

The Ironcycle Test Run will be Disney Cruise Line’s first traditional coaster and the longest coaster at sea, at 820 feet.
