Working with Matthews-Kane showed why he deserves election as a representative. (Letter)

My name is Jeffrey Chin. I am a clinical social worker and nonprofit executive with over 30 years of experience serving children and families of all backgrounds, experiences, and stories. Additionally, I am currently serving as a US Navy Reserve Officer, including experience deploying to Afghanistan in 2018 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Lastly, I am currently an adjunct professor at the Boston University School of Social Work, where I have taught in graduate school for over 4 years.

I am writing to convey my highest recommendation and endorsement of Ms. Bridget Matthews-Kane in her candidacy for State Representative. Bridget and I have worked together over the past two years to establish a series of programs, events and activities serving military families in the Western Massachusetts area, including Westfield and the surrounding communities. Bridget, as a military spouse, has been nothing short of phenomenal in her efforts to provide engaging activities for the hundreds of military families associated with this region (including Westover Air Force/Reserve Base, the Barnes Air National Guard and the many veteran families who live in the area).

Through her leadership, Bridget was able to recruit, engage, and support a council of community leaders, local military spouses, military leaders, and service providers relevant to families living in the area. I was invited to join this council and witnessed the power of Bridget’s leadership. The council was made up of people with diverse backgrounds and personalities, and Bridget was able to engage and guide them to successfully run a multitude of programs and activities serving local families. His focus on the overall well-being of families was highlighted throughout his work with this council.
