Winners and losers as 49ers edge Cowboys 30-24 in Week 8 – NBC New York

He San Francisco 49ers They made him nervous, but they held on for a crucial victory that moved them to 4-4.

San Francisco defeated dallas cowboys 30-24 in Week 8 of Sunday night footballand the latter fell to 3-4 after a bye week.

Dallas led at halftime with a narrow 10-6 lead, then San Francisco showed its offensive potential in the third quarter with 21 unanswered points.

But the 49ers, who blew two double-digit leads in losses to the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals already this season, left it late once again when Dallas tried to come back but fell short and failed to pick up a single yard on its final drive.

Let’s analyze the game further with winners and losers:

WINNER: George Kittle, 49ers

NFL tight ends were the stars of National Tight Ends Day. So naturally, the founder of the day starred under the lights.

Kittle recorded six receptions on seven targets for 128 yards and a score, with his length of 43. It was a classic Kittle night as every time he was targeted, a big play seemed inevitable. He also has a good record against Dallas.

Kittle has enjoyed a strong start to the season and will continue to be essential for an offense that is missing several key players.

LOSER: Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Prescott helped his numbers in the fourth quarter with the comeback attempt, but before that he was nowhere near a $60 million quarterback.

He finished the game completing 25 of 38 passes for 243 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His second pick, caught by Deommodore Lenoir, early in the third quarter changed the course of the game and San Francisco never looked back.

The Cowboys as a whole have multiple glaring flaws, so it’s not all Prescott’s fault, but the veteran doesn’t help himself justify his worth either.

WINNER: Isaac Guerendo, 49ers

Once again, the 49ers suffered an injury when Jordan Mason went down relatively early, putting rookie running back Guerendo in the main frame.

Guerendo’s touches have increased in recent weeks with Mason’s injury situations, and the fourth-rounder did his part, rushing for 85 yards on 14 carries (6.1 average) and a touchdown.

He could have added another touchdown to seal the score in the final seconds, but he opted, once again, to slide early to take a knee for the remaining time. A former wide receiver in his early college days, he also caught three passes for 17 yards.

LOSER: Cowboys’ season is in danger

There isn’t much room for error with the Cowboys currently 3-4, third in the NFC East. Second place in the conference last year, they are currently behind at 6-2. Washington Commanders and 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles.

To make matters worse, your next schedule won’t be any easier. Their next four games will be against the Atlanta Falcons, at home to the Eagles and the Houston Texans, and then on the road against the Commanders.

The games aren’t played on paper, but the Cowboys face the potential reality of going 3-8 a month from now. Things have to change quickly if Dallas wants to be proactive in its season.

WINNER: Ricky Pearsall, 49ers

While the 49ers showed improvement in scoring touchdowns in the red zone and limiting third-down conversions on defense, arguably more important was the impact that rookie wide receiver Pearsall showed he could make.

With Brandon Aiyuk sidelined for the season and Deebo Samuels in and out of the lineup due to injuries, Pearsall showed encouraging potential in his few touches.

He caught all four targets for 38 yards, while also recording a 39-yard run late in the game.

How he fares with increased reps will be determined later, but he’s showing Kyle Shanahan that he’s capable of playing a more reliable role amid numerous injuries.
