MANILA: The number of reported deaths due to severe tropical storm Kristine (international name: Trami) is now at 116, while the number of affected people has risen to more than six million, according to the latest report by the National Management and Disaster Risk Reduction (NDRRMC). ) presented.

In its 8 a.m. situation report on Monday (Oct. 28), the agency revealed that 6,717,755 people, or 1,662,416 families, were affected by severe weather or flooding caused by Kristine nationwide. .

Of those affected, 561,687 remained in evacuation centers, while 418,668 took refuge in other places.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said it is still validating 106 of the 116 reported deaths, adding that 109 people were injured and 39 are missing.

More cities under state of calamity

Additionally, the NDRRMC also placed two more cities or municipalities under a state of calamity, bringing the total to 160 areas.

Of the 160, the agency said 79 areas are in the Bicol region, followed by Calabarzon with 64 areas, Eastern Visayas with 13 areas and one area each in the Ilocos region, Soccsksargen, the Cordillera administrative region and the capital.

So far, the government has deployed P658 million worth of aid to the affected families.
