What did we learn against Texas Tech?

The Frogs needed a second-half comeback to win this one and give Fort Worth back control after struggling in the first half. Breaking down what fans can learn from this game that won’t show up on the stat sheet.

The 9-3 is still on the table

Despite the team’s struggles before its bye week, the Frogs are now 2-0 after the bye week and are one win away from bowl eligibility this week, something they failed to achieve last season . The victories have not been pretty; However, they need a double-digit comeback against Texas Tech and were struggling against Utah in a game where the offense had its worst performance of the season. Despite all that, TCU is just one win away from a bowl game, and if they win, they can finish with a 9-3 record, which would have seemed impossible before the bye week. However, because of this, let’s move on to the bad section….

Losses to Houston and UCF get worse every week

This one is obvious but still worth addressing. To remind you, TCU led by four possessions against the Knights before falling apart and losing. They lost to a Houston team that had failed to score a touchdown in two games. If TCU had won those two games, they would be in Arlington’s driver’s seat and would be undefeated in Big 12 play. Both were horribly executed games, and while the results can’t be changed, those games will make Horned Frog fans cringe. ask “what could have been” for the rest of the season.

The offense continues to fight

If it weren’t for Salvador Williams and his ability to be everything the offense needs, this could be a completely different team. We saw the formation where Williams ran at running back, and last weekend against the Red Raiders, we saw him at running back as well. Outside of Williams and the occasional big play by Eric McAlisterthe offense often appears stagnant. We have seen a drop in production since Jack BeckJPR has hardly been used as much as it should, and Drake Dabney He hasn’t been much of a threat this season. I’m not sure what needs to change to get them back on track, but leaving them in the hands of a defense that has struggled this season doesn’t seem like the best idea.

Regardless, TCU is 5-3 and if they win, they could still make some noise for a spot in the conference championship, although they are only favorites in two of the four remaining games. The end of the season is approaching and we’re still waiting for a full Frogs game, but they’re close and it might be happening too soon. Unfortunately, it is also too late.

Either way, a win is a win and should be celebrated as such, but it’s time to move on to this week’s opponent.

Welcome to Baylor Hate Week.
