One dead in head-on accident west of New Town

MCKENZIE COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) – A Nevada man was killed and a South Dakota man was seriously injured in a crash between a pickup truck and a semi west of New Town Monday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the pickup truck was heading west on Highway 23, approximately 16 miles west of New Town, around 8:15 a.m.

Investigators said the driver of the pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound truck.

The driver of the truck suffered fatal injuries. The truck driver was seriously injured. Their names are being withheld until next of kin are notified.

The stretch of road near the scene was closed for about four hours as crews worked to clear the road.
