Dumfries and Galloway council to abandon change of school week plan

The council report said officers had been aware of support for the measure for “some years”.

He said it had been important to hold a “thorough consultation” to get the views of everyone involved.

“The level of commitment shows that it is not an easy decision and that people have strong opinions,” he added.

However, it concluded that, given the variety of concerns raised, it would be best to maintain the current structure of the week.

A specific web page will be created to explain the reasons for the decision if it is confirmed.
