Nevada U.S. Attorney Frierson to Resign in January

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The federal prosecutor who led prosecutors in Las Vegas and Reno will resign in January.

Jason Frierson says he will resign on January 17, 2025. He has been in his role since May 2022.

Frierson has held his position for three years, having been nominated by President Biden in November 2021.

He was the first African American to hold office in the District of Nevada.

As part of his resignation, Frierson issued this statement:

“It has been the honor of my life to serve as United States Attorney for the District of Nevada. I thank President Biden for nominating me and I thank Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto and Senator Jacky Rosen for their support and confidence in me to lead our team of dedicated public servants to carry out the mission of the Department of Justice. Every day, I hold each team member to the highest standards to earn the trust of the public we serve and our law enforcement partners. As a team, we value integrity, respect, compassion and excellence in everything we do to make Nevada a safer place. I am also grateful to have been able to work alongside local, state, tribal, and federal partners to build effective relationships that advance the cause of doing the right thing. Together, we prioritized getting guns off the streets, fighting drug trafficking, and reducing violent crime. I have been especially fortunate to be the face of the Bureau in the community we serve, growing our presence in the District and fostering strong relationships with local organizations and law enforcement leaders. “I look forward to seeing the continued success and courageous work the Office has ahead.”
