SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) — At least 13 people were injured Tuesday when a car driven by a man in his 70s plowed into a group of people at a traditional market in Seoul, police said.

The incident occurred around 3:50 pm at the Mokdong Kkaebi market in southwest Seoul, leaving four people seriously injured and nine others with minor injuries.

No deaths have been reported so far, police said.

The driver was not seriously injured and there were no other occupants in the vehicle, according to news reports.

A breathalyzer test conducted by the police came back negative.

A witness told Yonhap News Agency by phone that the car “went about 100 meters from the entrance,” adding, “I heard it was driving with the accelerator full.”

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and working to assess the extent of the damage.
