Cops say driver was seriously injured after hydroplaning on road without seat belt

SPRING HILL, Kan. (KCTV) – The Kansas Highway Patrol says an Osawatomie man was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash Monday night.

According to KHP, the 43-year-old man was driving his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado south on US 169 when he hydroplaned just south of 223rd Street. This caused him to hit the rear of a truck that was also traveling south.

The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with what KHP described as suspected serious injuries. He was not reported to be wearing a seat belt during the accident.

The 76-year-old man driving the truck was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
