A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle went airborne before hitting a tree, authorities said.

Two people were killed and a third was seriously injured in a car crash in Raynham on Monday night, authorities said.

Emergency crews were alerted to the crash on East Britannia Street, near Thrasher Street, around 9:25 p.m., Raynham Police Chief David LaPlante and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita said in a statement. press release. First responders arrived at the scene and found a 2017 Hyundai Elantra leaning against a tree, and a preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle went airborne before striking the tree, according to LaPlante and LaCivita.

Authorities said the driver, Averi Costa-Burton, 26, of Fall River, was ejected from the car. Emergency crews rushed him to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where he was pronounced dead.

Two other passengers remained in the vehicle, according to the statement. Dorryn Robinson, 28, of New Bedford, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 25-year-old Fall River man, who was sitting in the back seat, was flown to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with life-threatening injuries. .

The Raynham Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash, LaPlante and LaCivita said.
