Man seriously injured in stabbing in Dededo | Guam News

A confrontation in Dededo led to violence during the night of December 27, 2024, leaving one man with multiple stab wounds and another in police custody.

According to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam, at approximately 8:58 p.m. on December 27, 2024, officers with the Guam Police Department responded to a disturbance at Pacific Gardens in Dededo. Upon arrival, police found a man suffering from serious injuries and bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds to his back and arms.

A family member was seen applying pressure to the man’s wounds in an attempt to stop the bleeding. Due to the severity of his injuries, including “severe lacerations,” the man was transported by ambulance to Guam Regional Medical City for treatment.

As stated in the complaint, witnesses reported that, prior to the incident, the man had been calling a person named Tarson Yosi, allegedly looking for a fight because he believed Yosi had broken into his home. During this time, the man encountered a friend of Yosi’s and subsequently threw a bat at him.

“A struggle ensued,” the complaint says, which caused the bat to fall, and it was at that moment that Yosi appeared behind the man and “stabbed him in the back and arms” several times with a “sharp object that “It appeared to be a knife” before fleeing the scene with his friend.

When officers arrived, they conducted a search for Yosi, but could not find him. However, they did collect a sweater believed to belong to Yosi, which had “suspicious blood” in several areas of the sweater and a noticeable hole in the right sleeve.

Additionally, according to charging documents, the next day, December 28, 2024, police returned to the apartments and found Yosi inside a unit with a family member. He was detained and taken to the police station to be questioned and later interviewed with an interpreter.

During the interview, Yosi provided conflicting details about the fight, which ultimately led to the interview being canceled.

According to the complaint, Yosi was formally arrested around 12:10 a.m. on December 29, 2024. At the time of his arrest, he was on pretrial release for an unrelated case involving criminal mischief charges.

Yosi, 25, was charged with aggravated assault as a second-degree felony with a special allegation of deadly weapon used in the commission of a felony and warning of a felony committed while at large.
