Brady Tkachuk calls Senators’ performance against Stars ‘disgraceful hockey’

Ottawa’s offense struggled and failed to get a shot on goal during a 6-on-4 power play in the final minutes of the game.

Tkachuk was not very impressed.

“The second half was embarrassing, embarrassing for hockey. Just unacceptable,” he told reporters.

Throughout the game, Ottawa failed to score on each of its four power plays, and its 13 shots were the fewest Dallas has seen all season.

“You have to give them credit, they played well. It’s a veteran team, there are a lot of great players on that team,” Tkachuk said of the Stars.

“The only thing we can control is ourselves and our individual decisions and that is not the way we play.”

Tkachuk broke a four-game drought with a goal and an assist, but he’s still focused on improving.

“There’s a lesson to be learned. A lot of lessons to be learned in this game, a lot of lessons to be learned every shift,” he said.

The Senators are 19-16-2 this season and have lost three of their last four games. They will face the St. Louis Blues on Friday.

“Thank God we played tomorrow, we’ll get over this faster,” Tkachuk said.
