Finding herself homeless and in a shelter, their relationship felt like a new beginning with Manning showering her with congratulations and gifts.

But kindness soon turned into hell for Billie, 25, who suffered a horrific campaign of control and abuse at the hands of Manning.

Manning, 31, was violent, obsessive and paranoid, preventing Billie from talking to her friends and controlling her every move during their year-long relationship.

Isolated and terrified, Billie, from Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, tried to leave but Manning threatened to kill her dog if she did.

In an abhorrent act of evil at the height of his reign of terror, Manning raped Billie while she was pregnant with his baby.

In March of this year he was sentenced to 18 years.

Call center worker Billie, who bravely waived her anonymity, says: “When Frazer raped me that day, it was the worst moment of my life.

“For a long time I was Frazer’s prisoner. But now I have retired that. forceand he has to suffer prison“.

And Billie urges women not to fall into the same trap she did.

“For any woman meeting someone new, don’t ignore the red flags,” she says.

“If you are already experiencing abuse, it is never okay. In the bedroom, no means no too. Even if it is your partner.”

In 2020, Billie felt especially vulnerable when she met Manning, who was unemployed, at a shelter.

Police launch crackdown on domestic violence amid chilling rise in crime

Billie says: “I was going through a horrible time. For the last month, I have been living in the shelter after becoming homeless.

“My relationship had fallen apart and I had nowhere to stay. My dad lived in a one-bedroom apartment and had no room for me.

“I didn’t want to be a burden on anyone else in my life. I stayed there until I recovered.

“It was filled with many other vulnerable people, including Frazer.”

Manning quickly took a liking to Billie, leaving food at her door and soon not leaving her alone.

She says: “He warned the other men not to talk to me. I was very fragile and I didn’t like attention. He kept telling me I was beautiful.

“After rejecting him so many times, I started to feel bad for him.”

Then one night, Manning spoke to Billie about his own family problems.

Billie says: “I realized how charming he was underneath his tough exterior. That night things happened and we became a couple.”

Weeks later, Billie found her own apartment, excited for a new beginning and a future with Manning.

Billie says, “Frazer practically moved here and also surprised me with the dog of my dreams. A beautiful Rottweiler that I named Tommy. “I loved him for that.”

However, living together meant that Billie quickly saw a completely different side of Manning.

“A week later, Frazer had been on the phone day and night. I politely asked if we could spend time without him,” Billie says.

“He went crazy. “He started throwing objects at me and destroying things.”

I felt helpless. After that, his words entered my head. I told myself it couldn’t have been rape because he was my partner.

From then on, Manning had constant angry outbursts that were so severe that even Billie’s dog was so terrified that he urinated on the floor.

Manning blamed Billie and made her feel like a prisoner in her own home.

Billie says, “Frazer would get crazier and blame me. He hated that he scared Tommy.

“Soon their ‘love’ turned into control. Frazer prevented me from leaving the apartment completely, even to go get food.

“She eliminated all the men from my social networks and my contacts. If I told my father I loved him, Frazer would accuse me of liking him.

“It completely prevented me from talking to my family. I became a recluse, completely trapped.

“However, I loved him very much. But I lost who I was completely.”

Threats to kill

After the couple were together for six months, Billie claims Manning became obsessed with anal sex and constantly begged every night.

Billie flatly refused. But Manning persisted despite her protests and one night forced himself on her.

Billie yelled at him to stop and he raped her.

“Afterwards, I was sobbing and told him that he had raped me,” she recalls.

“He said it wasn’t rape because I had agreed in the first place. He told me that no one would ever believe me.

“I felt helpless. After that, his words entered my head. I told myself it couldn’t have been rape because he was my partner.

“If I tried to leave the house during the day, he threatened to kill Tommy.

“I became very worried about Tommy’s life and I couldn’t escape.”

She feared for the environment she would bring her baby into.

She says Manning refused to let her tell anyone about her. pregnancyand would even prevent him from attending examinations.

“I loved my unborn baby more than anything. However, my life was hell.”

Drunk and violent

In November 2021, when Billie was two months pregnant, Manning’s father suffered a heart attack and died.

Billie claims Manning was devastated and continued to disappear from the house for hours before returning drunk and violent.

Billie says: “On the day of funeral. Frazer put on a black suit and left.

“As always, he didn’t let me leave the apartment. I was worried about him all day.

“That night, he returned from the wake drunk and passed out. Then someone called his phone and I answered.

“It was a woman who told me that she had been with him at the wake. I got angry and confronted him.

“He yelled ‘It’s not true’ and then he saw red. He punched me in the face and pulled me hair. Then he put his hands around my throat and suffocated me.

“I was in agony and thought I was going to die. In the end I fainted.”

When Billie woke up, Frazer apologized before raping her again.

“All I could do was cry for the baby,” she says.

“Frazer also continued to cry, saying he was sorry and that he loved me, while he raped me. It was the worst moment of my life.

“Then he went to sleepI stayed awake, dazed.

“He raped me on the day of his father’s funeral, while I was pregnant.”

As the abuse worsened over the course of next A month later, Billie had a nervous breakdown one night and called a friend hysterically.

The friend immediately called policereporting to Manning in December 2021.

Billie says, “That night, the police showed up at the house and arrested Frazer. I felt both relieved and terrified.

“But while the police officers supported me, little by little I opened up. “They helped me realize the abuse.”

A few weeks later, while Manning was in jail awaiting trial, Billie suffered a miscarriage, likely caused by the stress she had been under.

“After what had happened it didn’t surprise me. “I felt heartbroken,” she says.

“At the same time, I knew the baby would have tied me to Frazer for life.

“So while I was waiting for trial, I also grieved the loss of my son.”

“When I finally faced Frazer in court, I was telling my story while he laughed evilly at me,” Billie explains.

“The court raised the curtain, but I could still hear their cruel taunts.
