Woman dies and another is seriously injured in accident

A woman has died and another has been seriously injured in a two-car crash in north Lincolnshire.

The cars collided on the A1077 between South Ferriby and Barton-upon-Humber at around 07:45 GMT on Thursday.

The driver of a black Volkswagen Polo, a 49-year-old woman, died at the scene, Humberside Police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for several hours.

Investigators asked for witnesses and any dash camera footage of the incident.

Another accident occurred later on Thursday on the same stretch of road.

Three cars collided at around 19:45 GMT near the junction with Gravel Pit Road, Humberside Police said.

No one was seriously injured in the accident.

A 55-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and was released without further action, the force added.
