Celtic boss Rodgers on ‘dedicated’ Taylor, refusing to ‘beat around the bush’ and impressive United

Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the media ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Premiership match against Dundee United On Wednesday.

These are the key points he raised:

  • Rodgers confirmed he had conversations with “dedicated Celtic” Greg Taylor after some supporters chanted Kieran Tierney’s name in the win against St Mirren.

  • The manager added that Taylor, who suffered a bump on the nose and ran down the tunnel after the game against St Mirren, is “absolutely fine”. Rodgers hopes a resolution regarding his contract can be found soon.

  • On his post-match comments that Tierney’s chant showed “a complete lack of respect” towards Taylor, Rodgers added: “I’m not going to beat around the bush when I talk about the bush. I’ve got enough experience to say what I think and what I feel.”

  • On possible signings, he said: “There are some little things happening in the background, so much ins and outs, but nothing to declare so far.”

  • Rodgers added that bringing back Dane Murray from his loan spell at Queen’s Park would make any departure for Stephen Welsh (the defender has been linked with Mechelen) “an easy transition”.

  • Regarding Dundee United, the manager said that Jim Goodwin’s team is “doing very, very well” this season.
