Fatal fire: two killed children, the mother seriously hurt in the fire of the apartment in the northeast of Palm Bay

Brevard County • Palm Bay, Florida-Dos Niños died, and her 32-year-old mother was seriously injured in an apartment in the 1600 block of Sunnybrook Lane in the northeast of Palm Bay.

According Palm Bay fire rescue Deputy Director John Ringleb, on Friday morning, at approximately 12:40 am, Palm Bay’s fire rescue equipment received multiple reports from an apartment fire in Sunnybrook Lane.

“While it was on its way, the office informed the teams that responded that several people were trapped inside the apartment,” said assistant chief Ringleb.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue immediately requested assistance from the Fire Department of Melbourne and Malabar, the Brevard County Fire rescue and the Palm Bay Police Department.

“Upon arrival, the Fire teams found a strong fire from an apartment on the second floor with multiple exhibitions at risk,” said Ringleb assistant chief. “Firefighters began an aggressive attack, which successfully contained fire and prevented the seven adjacent units from spreading.”

The search teams entered the apartment and rescued three victims, immediately providing medical help when leaving the structure. Despite the rescue efforts, a 10 -year -old boy was declared deceased in the scene.

“A 5 -year -old boy and a 32 -year -old adult were transported critically to the Regional Medical Center of Holmes,” said Assistant Ringleb.

“Later, both patients were transferred to the Regional Orlando Burning Center for additional specialized care. Tragically, the 5 -year -old boy succumbed to his wounds, while the adult remains critical. “

Chief Ringleb’s assistant said that a 15 -year -old occupant escaped the fire and currently stays with local relatives.

The State Fire Marshal office has been called to the scene to carry out thorough investigation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation waiting for the official report.

“Palm Bay Fire rescues his deepest condolences to the family affected by this devastating tragedy,” said Ringleb assistant chief.
