Shocking footage shows the moment a 100-year-old building collapsed after being hit by 60mph winds during Storm Eowyn.

But it was reduced to rubble after strong winds by storm Eowyn in recent days hit the historic building.

Michael Haworth, joint owner of Porters Porters Porters, captured the dramatic moment he collapsed on camera.

In footage shared online, a red brick wall can be seen peeling away from one end as the storm’s gales swirled.

Debris is then seen crashing to the ground causing a cloud of dust as shocked onlookers watched.

Michael said: “I am one of the goalkeeper owners who is next door but one, and there is an Indian restaurant that is in the middle.

“My fire escape allowed me to enter a small alley where I was able to get the footage.

“The building was condemned on Thursday. I think the barbers next door, called the knot, were complaining that their floor was cracking so building regulations were called.”

Trafford Council officers ordered the knot to be closed Hair Studio and another nearby businessthe mouse house printing press, as a precaution.

Michael said the person who bought the building “was going to turn it into a private medical practice.”

He added: “It’s a historic building and there’s some pretty interesting architecture out front.

“It was pretty nerve-wracking to see it fall, especially being so close. I wondered if it was going to hit me directly. Apparently the building has been creaking since yesterday.

“Possibly the situation with the building has worsened due to the storm.”

A design statement on Trafford Council’s planning application site states that work being carried out before the collapse would “retain the existing shop front main entrance and provide a separate staff entrance and fire exit at the side elevation facing Bath Place”.

Storm Chaos

Storm Eowyn might have passed, but the damage she left in her wake is still very much here.

Some 1,070 flights were canceled and 50 supermarkets were forced to close.

And thousands of properties remain without power in the UK after Storm Eowyn.

The brutal storm damaged buildings, uprooted trees and caused force short as it wreaked havoc in recent days.

Ireland was hit by Storm Eowyn, with a record wind speed of 183 km/h (114 mph) measured at Mace Head, Co Galway on Friday morning, He met Eireann saying.
