‘Fuming’ Mikel Arteta shares a tense verbal exchange with referee Michael Oliver after the controversial dismissal of Myles Lewis-Skelly against Wolves

An enraged Mikel Arteta shared a tense exchange with referee Michael Oliver during the consequences of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Wolves, which saw another red card of contentious gunners steal the headlines.

Oliver gave Myles Lewis-Skelly, 18, his marching orders at the middle time for a foul on Matt Doherty while the wolves moved away from a piece of arsenal.

It resulted in the visiting players surrounding Oliver with fury. There was an initial confusion about whether the red card was due to the fact that Lewis-Skelly denied a goal chance, although the incident took 90 yards away from the goal.

But the PGMol party center account confirmed that the challenge had been considered as a “serious dirty game”, which was verified by VAR Darren England.

The fourth red card of the Arsenal season, left fans, players and apoplectic staff, with many bewildered in how Lewis-Skelly’s challenge could be seen as something more than offensive of yellow cards.

And full -time, a fan caught Arteta who seemed not to cut words with Oliver before stopping, turning and giving the referee a dirty look.

The Spanish manager then celebrated with his players, delighted that the controversial decision did not cost the three points to the Gunners.

However, Arteta remained “furious” on the red card while doing his pressure after the party and confirmed that Arsenal will appeal the decision if the FA does not automatically revoke it.

Arteta said: ‘It’s so clear that I leave you. I am absolutely furious, but I leave with you, because it is so obvious. I don’t think my words will help.

“Hopefully we do not need (appealing the red card) and if necessary, it happened and is a very good precedent what happened with Bruno (Fernandes) this season too. We are in a position where we should not be.

Fernandes de Manchester United was sent against Tottenham on September 29, 2024, but his red card was revoked by the FA after a successful appeal.

In the return performance of his team, Arteta added: ‘That is what they show us every day.

‘This season is very special for many circumstances. With Mikel (Merino) and Martin (Odegaard), we had to reach a very difficult opponent who is fighting the descent and we had another problem in the game.
