Shock in France after fatally stabbed teenager

Paris: The French police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 14 -year -old boy who refused to resign two teenagers in Paris, police and prosecutors said.

The boy left a soccer training session on Friday night in the south of Paris when the two demanded his phone, the prosecutor’s office told the AFP.

When he refused, one stabbed him on the shoulder and the boy died in the hospital.

The suspects of 16 and 17 were arrested after a friend of the victim helped them identify them, added the prosecutor’s office. Both had appeared in the court last October accused of violent robbery.

The Paris Police Prefect, Laurent Núñez, said on Monday that a suspect had admitted “the attempt to extortion and a deadly knife.”

Núñez told RTL Radio that, in general, there was a fall in cases of youth crime, but “there is an increase in youth violence that is becoming unbearable.”

He said that in the Paris region, one third of the accused of violent robbery were minor.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said on Saturday that he was horrified by the death of the 14 -year -old for “the barbaric knife blows that wanted to steal his phone.”

“The reconstruction of a France where parents no longer have to fear seeing their son killed by nothing will be a long and difficult path,” added the right -wing minister in a comment about X.
