Sambhal disturbances: members of the judicial panel registered statements of government employees

The Judicial Commission visits Sambhal for the third time, registering statements on the violence of November; Victims of 1978 riots demand justice and compensation.

The members of the Judicial Commission constituted to investigate the violence of Sambhal visited that district for the third time on Thursday and registered statements by the government employees who were on service when violence broke out in the district of Uttar Pradesh on November 24, 2024 during The Shahi survey. Jama Masjid in which four people had lost their lives.

Meanwhile, a group of people who demand justice for the victims of the 1978 Sambhal disturbances organized a protest outside the Bhawan inspection where the judicial commission was sitting. They wanted to meet the members of the commissioner, but the police force deployed there did not allow them to enter.

The victims who demanded reinvestigation of the riots that occurred more than 46 years ago. Vishnu Sharan Rastogi, a major citizen who claimed to be a victim of 1978’s Sambhal disturbances, said: “We have come here to meet with the members of the Judicial Commission. We want to share our problems with them. ”

“In the 1978 riots, my half store was burned and only 200 I was given compensation that was not appropriate. We could not raise our voice so far, since the MLA and the parliamentarians did not listen to us. We demand that the Government give us adequate compensation, ”he said.

Sambal Sdm Vandana Mishra said: “Some residents of Sambhal gave a memorandum for the judicial commission that demanded a reinvestigation of the 1978 disturbances. The Judicial Commission today (Thursday) registered the statements of the government employees who were on service when the Violence during the Shahi Jama Masjid survey. “

Previously, the Judicial Commission team inspected the area affected by violence on December 1, 2024. Again January 21, 2025, the team visited Sambhal and registered statements from 60 people.

The former judge of the Judge of the Superior Court, DK Arora, is the president of the commission, while former additional secretary Amyon Mohan Prasad and former DGP Arvind Kumar Jain are its members. The commission was created on November 28.
