Prosecutors want the suspect in 1997 the murder of Cleveland to use a GPS monitor

Cleveland, Ohio (Woio) – prosecutors request more supervision of a recently released suspect on bail after being accused of the murder of a Cleveland mother almost 28 years ago.

They said the witnesses in the case are afraid of their safety.

Michael Bukowski, 50, from Toledo, is no longer in the Cuyahoga Count prison after declaring himself not guilty of all charges on Tuesday in the Court and publishing 10 percent of his bail of $ 500,000.

Toledo’s man is accused of killing Cathy Parisi, 25, in 1997.

19 News have been covering their disappearance for years.

His body has never been found.

We talked to her youngest daughter Angelina Speer after the audience in court.

“And it is as if it really was not a closure yet, but I hope that one day that is the case in which we find out, I prefer to confess and tell us what happened with certainty to be convicted,” Speer said.

The only condition that the judge established for Bukowski’s link was not to have any contact with witnesses or Parisi’s family.

Now, prosecutors say “at least”, they want GPS monitoring and judicial supervision for the suspect of murder.

In a new motion presented on Wednesday night, they cited “the history of the accused of resorting to extreme violence to intimidate those who can testify against him.”

In his reading, helping prosecutor Ben McNair told the judge that when Bukowski was 16, he raped a 14 -year -old girl and then violently attacked her with a hammer.

“Lord. Bukowski slipped from her parents’ house, broke into the 14 -year -old girl’s house armed with a hammer and hit that child almost to death, causing fractures of her jaw, her skull, her skull, her arm.

In the motion, prosecutors also said since Bukowski’s arrest, “several witnesses have expressed fear of intimidation or reprisals.”

We communicate with Bukowski’s lawyer, Terry Gilbert.

He said they would oppose the prosecutor’s motion.

“They did not provide any new information already considered by the judge and the bond commissioner, after extensive arguments of the parties. It is not necessary to modify the conditions, ”Gilbert wrote in an email.

In court, Gilbert said Bukowski is a father with two teenage daughters and has no criminal record for adults.

“During the last 28 years, he has lived a reliable life and never moved from his residence, and knew about this case and never tried to flee,” Gilbert said.

Angelina Speer told us that she hoped to be linked and that she is ready for the long way ahead.

“Oh, God, as if I can only imagine if somehow, he escapes or something stupid and crazy,” Speer said.

The judges consider each case individually before establishing the bond.

They take into account any criminal record and possible risks to the community.

Bukowski will return to court on February 18.
